This page is under construction. I am compiling national, state and internet resources to help the families of missing children. Please revisit this site as I am trying to add more resources every day.

Before you start going through the resources below, I would like to share, with the searching parent, some things that I learned when my son was missing and what I am learning now from families of missing children.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!!! ...This is very important...

You are the vital link to your child. You must take care of yourself so you can have the strength to search for your child. The more you do, the more you will motivate others to search for your child. Also, you must stay strong and healthy for the day your child returns home. Please... eat well, sleep, keep in contact with family and friends, find a way to relax and exercise. Don't feel guilty about doing any of these things, because you need to hold on to your sanity , stay healthy and be strong for your child.

GET HELP FROM FRIENDS, FAMILY and TEAM HOPE

People want to help, but they don't know what to do. Give them tasks. They can help with phone calls, completing forms, mailing flyers, reaching out to the media, making certain you take care of yourself, etc. Contact TEAM HOPE for emotional support and assistance in your search.

EVERY DAY IS A ROLLER COASTER

Every day is a struggle. A great deal of the time you won't get the cooperation you want. You will get frustrated because the search for your child isn't as important to others as it is to you. There will be sightings and leads that prove to be dead ends. When you feel like you are at the end of your rope, step back, take a walk, reach out, call a friend or relative, refresh yourself. Please remember - today you are one day closer to recovering your child.

BEWARE

You are very vulnerable right now. You will be approached by people that will want to take advantage of you and take your money. I know that all you can think of is finding your child, but please don't believe anyone that promises you they will find your child. Unfortunately, no one can promise that. They can, however, promise to work hard for you. If you are approached by a private investigator or you would like to hire one, ask them what they can do that law enforcement can't. Interview them very carefully and ask the advice of someone you trust or the advice of law enforcement before you hire anyone. If you do hire someone, monitor their work and their fees on a daily basis.

You will most likely be approached by people claiming to be psychics. If you don't believe in psychics then you have nothing to worry about. If you do believe in psychics, be very careful!!!!! Do not ever give a psychic any money for giving you information about your child. A true psychic would never charge you any money. If a psychic tells you that your child will be home on a specific date, please don't stop your search. You have nothing to lose by continuing to search, but you do if you stop searching. Don't stop searching and reaching out for help until your child is home.
